[3][4][5] He is well-known for his powerful vocals and the incorporation of R&B and hip-hop,and has been acknowledged as a trailblazer of soul-trap.Wave became famous thanks to the single "Heart on Ice", which went viral through YouTube as well as TikTok and hit number 25 on the Billboard Hot 100. "Wave's debut album, Ghetto Gospel (2019) was a top 10 album on the US Billboard 200. [8] His second album, Pray 4 Love (2020), was a top 2 album on the Billboard 200, and included the track "Rags2Riches", which reached the top spot at 12 on the Hot 100. His third album, SoulFly (2021), was his debut album at the top of the charts at number one. It was his first top-chart album. Wave's professional journey began in the year 2016 with the release of his mixtape Hunger Games Vol.1. Before joining Alamo Records, he released several mixtapes by himself. The mixtape PTSD was released on the 14th of June, 2019. It contained the hit song "Heart on Ice". The track went viral on YouTube, TikTok and reached the top 25 on the Billboard Hot 100. The debut album of Wave, Ghetto Gospel, was released on November 1, 2019. It reached number 10 in the US Billboard 200. On April 3, 2020 Rod Wave released his second album, "Pray 4 Love". It was released at the number 2 position on the Billboard 200. The deluxe version was released on the 7th of August. Nine songs from the album charted on the Billboard Hot 100. "S" (featuring ATR son Son) came in at number 12 on the Hot 100. It became his most-charting song. 14 On August 11 in 2020, Wave was included on the XXL's 2020 Freshman class. [15] In July 2020, Wave revealed during an interview that he was working on his third album, which was initially planned for release on August 27, 2020. [2] On March 6 2021, the singer revealed the album's tracklist for SoulFly. The song that topped the charts, "Street Runner", was also featured on the album. It reached the top spot at 11 on the Hot 100. [18][19] Wave released the hit song "Nirvana" in the latter half of 2021. It sparked some controversy because many believed the song was suicide that Wave categorically denied. [20]
