Anita Sarkeesian was born in Canada and raised in the United States. She's worked as media critic since. She founded Feminist Frequency a website that includes videos and comments on the representation of women in pop media. Anita Sarkeesian has been a blogger, critic of the media and a prestigious feminist for more than a decade. Feminist Frequency, a web-based resource for education that examines women's role in the narratives of pop culture It is the brainchild of Anita Sarkeesian. Additionally, she serves as the director of operations. In addition, she works to bring awareness to the targeted and sexist attacks on women, other minorities in online spaces she is committed to breaking down the stigmas and stereotypes in the popular culture. Sarkeesian holds a Masters in political and social thinking from York University. As a public speaker, she is extremely sought-after and has spoken at TEDxWomenXOXO as well as the United Nations Broadband Working Group. From an early age, Sarkeesian was fascinated by the issue of gender identity and feminist thought. When she was still in school, in 2009 she started her Feminist Frequency website.
